Baby Shower

The perfect gift for any baby shower is something with the new baby's name on it. Everyone loves a personalized gift. Allison Stiles ordered this sweet little 5x5 to match Harlee's nursery. I think it turned out really cute and I love that polka dotted ribbon on top.

One Cool Teacher!

I don't know Mrs. Dreher, but if she wants paisleys in these colors she must be one cool teacher! One of my very best customers, Rachel Harvey, ordered it for her. On top of the paisleys and the bright colors, she asked that it included some orange - her favorite color. I added the black because it is such a good accent for all of those bright shades.
Hard to believe, but I do not have a teacher canvas in my own classroom. I think I might have found my design!

Shelbie

The zebra and hot pink have really been popular! This design looks so cute on the little 5x5 and I love the initial behind the name.
Gwen McCormack ordered this cutie for her daughter. The baseball "Brady" a few posts back is for her son. I can just see these on their bedroom doors!

For The Georgia Fan...

This one is being shipped off to Athens, Georgia, today. Rachel Harvey ordered it for a special teacher who happens to be a big Georgia fan. Naturally, she wanted it in red, black and white! She said for me to do swirls or dots or whatever I wanted. I decided to do a little different design. It turned out so pretty!

I had to feature this new black and white ribbon. I absolutely love the print and it just went perfectly with this canvas. I added the little strip of red to tie it all together.

Play Ball, Again!

I've kind of got a baseball theme going here! Since I posted the ballplayer on Saturday, I thought I would go ahead and share this little cutie. This 5x5 baseball was ordered by Gwen McCormack for her son, Brady.
I love the simplicity. The red stitches really stand out and are perfectly accented with the large red satin ribbon. Carter need one of these for his door!

Play Ball!

A large, beautiful, very detailed 16x20 baseball themed canvas for Anden Green's nursery. Kristin liked the ballerina I did a while back, but wanted a ballplayer instead.

She requested blues and reds to match the artwork already in his room. She was also specific about the wording on the jersey, the background, what is in his hands, etc. I don't get the opportunity to get so detailed. I enjoyed the challenge and taking my time with this one.
Thank you, Kristin! I hope it is just what you had in mind!

Thank you!

Paisley Monogram

The early Christmas shopping has begun! New customer Amanda Reed ordered this little 5x5 and was able to cross one name off her list. She wanted an "S" in browns and blues with paisley. I thought this one turned out really simple and sweet.

Two Beauties

For Katie Haggard, Junior Miss 2010.

For Blair Fisher, Junior Auxiliary Little Sister 2010.

I thought it interesting that these two girls chose the same design, just in different sizes and colors. This design was first featured a while back as a gift for Andy and Chelsea Knowles. It matches their wedding invitation in black and red. I loved trying it out in blues, brown, and pink.
Congratulations, girls! Enjoy your reign!

Updates

This has been my view for the past week or so...

...this is my view now. I've played hard and now it is time to work hard. If you are on that list to the left, then your canvas has at least had a background coat of paint!
Back to reality...enjoy your Saturday!

Button Collection

I just love using little doodads in my artwork, but I have a hard time finding time to experiment with them. I carved out a little to play with these beautiful glittery buttons and metallic paint.

I did one silent auction item for Miss Alesha Pegg and went ahead and did one more just for extra (pictured above). It is an 8x10 and is currently available. Those are perfect colors for fall or would look really cute in a classroom. I've only got one!

I do have a few more buttons, so email me if you are interested in a button canvas. I am hoping to have a few more of these at the Autumn Street Fair as well.

Wasting Time

This is something I have a hard time with. I feel like I always need to be doing something. Cleaning, painting, school stuff, cooking, exercising...it goes on and on. Sometimes I even feel guilty for doing something I enjoy. It feels like wasted time and in the back of my mind, I am thinking of all of the things I could have gotten done with that time.

This is a simple canvas with a straightforward message. If I am doing something I truly enjoy, then it is not wasted time. Take time for yourself and the ones you love and by golly, have some fun!
I don't know if Gayle Roberts meant all of that when she ordered this for her husband's birthday, but it sure got me to thinking about how I spend my time. Thank you, Gayle and Heath, for the order. I hope you had a wonderful celebration!

John...

(photo from Pottery Barn Kids)

This beautiful pastel/neutral bedding is so lovely. I think calming tones are perfect for a nursery and I was so excited to do a matching canvas. So many ideas were popping into my head!

I love the name "John". I know it is extremely common, but it's just a good, solid name. No weird spelling, not short for anything...just John. You can't go wrong with that!

I kept it simple with the dot and stripe pattern from the bedding. Those elephants were awfully tempting! I hope this makes the perfect baby shower gift. Thanks again, Lauran!

Fall Colors

It's not to early to be thinking about fall colors. Actually, this is usually the time of year that I start getting ready for the Autumn Street Fair. Notice that I said "usually"! I love the warm tones of autumn. That's what I have in my house year round!

This pretty family canvas is a little different in that there is a monogram in the background instead of the name. The brown, burnt orange, and red are really pretty together and I like the brown on brown swirls on the ends.
This one is off to Atlanta and will make a great gift. Thank you, Lauran!

Brylyn Kate

Sweet and simple...I love this one. Kaitlyn McAdams is expecting a baby girl soon. She says that the nursery is yellow and white with cherry furniture. She wanted a little touch of pink. I love those colors and simple, classic nature of her description.
I did one for Kaitlyn a while back when she got married. I was so happy to have a small part in that milestone and now I get to be a part of this one. Thank you, Kaitlyn, for the order. Congratulations!

12x24 - $40.00

Lauran Nichols

New customer, Lauran Nichols, sent me pictures of her beautiful home and wanted a family canvas made to match. She uses this celadon color that I absolutely love. I was thinking of painting my bedroom this peaceful color, and now I am sure! Lauran ordered two other canvases that I can't wait to share.

Back To School?

No, not yet! I love my job, but I am not quite ready to go back yet. I really haven't done anything this summer, but have still managed to be busy but relaxed at the same time. It's just nice to be home a little more.
Sonia Jennings is getting ready to start the school year right. She ordered this cute teacher canvas. She is a big UT fan and wanted me to be sure to put in some orange. I like this family of colors with the black accents. Isn't this the beast teacher name ever?

If you're planning ahead and would like to get your child's teacher a little welcome back to school gift, remember that 5x5's are just $10.00 during the month of July!

America's Game

In honor of Independence Day, I am posting some past patriotic favorites.

Uncle Sam

I love the paisley in the red, white, and blue.

This is a special flag. If you look close you can see that the stars are baseballs and the stripes are bats.
That gives you a big hint as to what I have been doing this weekend...

I've never been a big sports lover. I didn't grow up on a sports family. I never seriously played any sports myself. But I do love watching my son play. He has a passion for sports (all sports!) that I don't really understand. When he plays, I'll be there.
(He's number 3 right there in the middle.)

For The MTSU Fan...

Sonia Jennings, a brand new customer in Murfreesboro, ordered a special wedding gift for a couple of Middle Tennessee State University fans. She wanted the school colors and she chose the font. She also requested "swirls".
You can't tell in the picture, but I added some shimmer to this one. I think it turned out really pretty. It would look great in your school colors, too!
