Going and Coming

Norman Rockwell is one of my favorite artists, a true inspiration. His talent and skill level just amazes me. I love to look at his paintings of everyday life especially when I am feeling a little bored or mundane. You all know I love travel, so this image really appeals to me and the feelings you have before and after a trip.

I went on a little shopping trip yesterday with Emily and Mike. That's right, no kids! At first I was really disappointed because I didn't really buy anything. You know how that is...when you actually have time and a little money, you don't find anything! Now I am thinking about what a good day I had talking and joking with my sister and husband. The shopping seems insignificant. I truly enjoyed my last day of summer!

"Commonplaces never become tiresome. It is we who become tired when we cease to be curious and appreciative. We find that it is not a new scene which is needed, but a new viewpoint".
~Norman Rockwell

I think we always see a little of ourselves in Norman Rockwell paintings. A little nostalgia, a little contentment. Like the quote, too.
