TCAP Week!!!

So...In my world, it's TCAP week!  This is the week that rubber hits the road.  Do they know their stuff or not?  It's stressful, but really at this point, I've already taken a deep breath and said what's done is done.
Teachers need some love this week!  Today is the last day to take advantage of the "Teacher Love" sale.  You can order any 6x9 or 4x12 teacher canvas for just $12.00.  Awesome!  Did I say that TODAY IS THE LAST DAY?  You better get on it!

Here's some that I've already filled...trust me, there's lots more to come!  How cute is this gray, lime, and aqua design for new teacher Jessica Higgins?

Irving College black and gold for their guidance counselor, Holly Luna.  Yes, that is black polka dotted burlap ribbon!

Two really bright and cheery 4x12's for Lauren's third grade teacher, Mrs. Jessica Alford, and one of my favorite art teachers of all time, Ms. Linda Dunlap.  I couldn't choose one ribbon color, so they got three!

My sister, Ashley Barnes, is a guidance counselor at Dekalb County Elementary.  She wanted pink, lime, and blue flowers.  I love how her's turned out!

Two of the "shabby apple" designs as gifts for special teachers.  Don't you love that red chevron ribbon?

Here's my sweet cat, Billie, showing you what I look like when I get home from work these days - haha!!  I turn the big 3-9 tomorrow...who knows what that will look like!

S Is For Stiles

Oh, I am loving this huge monogram for the front door!  My oldest bestest friend, Allison Stiles, just got a beautiful new house and this beauty is going on the front door - I'm so excited for her!!  This 16x20 really stands out on a larger door or on a house that is far from the road.

This canvas is cream with the tan swirls down the side.  The large S is actually three colors all blended together for a "sketchy" look.  I had the perfect wide burlap ribbon to top it all off.  I can't wait to see it in action!
Congrats, Stiles family!!

Show Us Your Life - Design Challenges

Today I am linking up with Kelly's Korner to share all of my design challenges.  We moved into our house about two year ago.  All of the wall were a cream color except for the dining room which was a burnt orange color.  The house we were moving from also had all cream walls.  What color was my big design challenge.  I was ready to experiment with some color and had an (almost!) clean canvas.
I started in my daughter's room.  Her room had this AMAZING high ceiling with gorgeous trim.  It was all white and had a huge white ceiling fan.  I took a deep breath and chose the pale aqua for the ceiling and a soft line for the walls.  The color really made the trim pop!  We changed the ceiling fan out for a chandelier and added the white vinyl.  LOVE!

I let my son choose the color and theme for his new room.  He asked for baseball and blue walls.  I could that going wrong in so many ways.  I was very leery about the stormy blue.  When I opened the paint can it looked SO dark!  Once I got it on the walls, I loved it!  His ceiling stayed cream and again the color made the trim look really nice.  We chose the baseball quilt for Pottery Barn Kids and added the dream vinyl.

The kitchen/living room/entry hall is all sort of one big room.  We definitely have an open floor plan!  All of the was painted the really pretty soft green and the ceilings were left white.  You can kind of get a little peek into my studio.  It is a dark green and the lower rim of the tray ceiling is one shade even darker.  This is what was the orange dining room!

Our bedroom is a creamy tan/gray color but the ceiling is chocolate brown.  The ceiling was already that color when we moved in, but the walls were that color, too.  It was just too much brown!  Now the walls and ceiling look separate but compliment each other.  Plus, it just looks more peaceful.

Our bathroom, which connects to the bedroom, was also brown on brown.  I didn't want to match exactly, but still look good side by side.  The walls are the same blue as my daughter's ceiling!  I did accents in in bronze and used lots of cream and khaki towels.  I loved how it turned out, too!

I have a feeling that I'll be like Kelly and my house will look just like this 10 years from now!  I did whatever I wanted when we moved in, love it, and don't really have any desire to change it any time soon.  I do like to update a refresh with new accessories or a furniture move here and there.  A whole big paint and remodel?  Not anytime soon!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Signs of Spring...

A sure sign of Spring at our house is baseball season!  It started for Carter this past Monday night in exciting fashion.  His team won by one run in extra innings - good news.  Carter collided with another player and has a banged up knee and a split chin.  The other player broke his shin and had to have some stitches in his cheek -bad news.
I love this quote ordered by Tiffany Judkins as a gift for a special coach.  It really could be changed in the background for any sport.  Sometime we forget just how important good coaches are!

Easter was really late this year.  It ended up being a gorgeous day.  We did our Easter lunch and egg hunt at my parents' house.  This is my favorite picture of the kids from that day!  They are sort of outgrowing Easter hunts and bunnies, but it was still nice just to spend some time together.

Teacher Inspiration

Isn't this how we feel at the beginning of the year?  We just meet these kids and here we are entrusted with their learning and safety every day.  By the end of the year, they really are like our own.  I often feel like a mother hen and am very protective of my little chicks!

It's getting to be that time of the year again...TCAP and then all those end of the year activities.  It is crazy busy for us all!  I won't be taking very many orders in May for that reason.  June is wide open - haha!  I am running the Teacher Love Sale through the month of April.  Now is the time to order your end of the year teacher gifts or just something for for own classroom.

Any 4x12 or 6x9 canvas for a teacher is just $12.00!

Isabella - Part 2

I did a really sweet baby nursery canvas for little Isabella a while back.  You can see the first painting along with her bedding by clicking here.  Mom liked it so much that she decided to order a second one with her first and middle name on it.

Last time I did the turtle.  This time I chose this cute little frog and put him in the opposite corner.  I also chose some of the same flowers but also some different ones.  I wanted the two pieces to coordinate but not match - if that makes sense!

Here's a close up of the pretty flowers.  I did the dashes on the inside instead of the outside this time.  That's a little detail that maybe no one would notice.  To me, it's the little things!!

Thanks again, Brittney, and congratulations!

Anchors and Apples

I've done this little saying (one of my favorites!) several times.  I always do it with flowers in the background and it has definitely been for girls.  You can see one of those here.  I was really excited to get the opportunity to paint this for a boy.  It was requested to use blues and reds and nautical items.  I chose the boat, anchor, and life preserver.  So cute!

Don't forget about the awesome teacher sale that's currently going on now through the month of April!  It's a great time to order those end of the year teacher gifts!!

Kasen Wayne

I got this etsy order recently and as soon as I was reading the customer's description, the finished image just popped into my head.  I love it when that happens!  I love, love, love this color combination with the gray chevron in background with the navy trim.

This one turned out soooo pretty! I did the name in a darker shade of gray. the dash trim is in khaki to tie in the requested burlap hanger. Baby boy nursery perfection!

We Love Our Teachers Sale!!!

Some lovely teachers over at West Elementary ordered a canvas for a student teacher who is just finishing up at their school.  What a nice idea!

They requested an antique barn wood look with the layered frames, a chalkboard center, and an apple and daisies.  They also asked for an owl.  I couldn't get all of that on one 11x14 so I had to leave out the owl.

I love the rustic look and think it will be so cute in any classroom!

I'm running a special this month on teacher canvases.  I shared the news last night on my facebook page and have already had an overwhelming response!  Thank you!!!  I finished my first Teacher Love Sale order for Krista Smith.  She wanted chevron and an owl in blues, pinks, and purples.  I love it!

Here's the details...any design in a 6x9 or 4x12 for just $12.00!  Order anytime during the month of April.  Now that's a good deal!
